Myni Conductor Euro coupling Working principle Without noticing we are in a very polluted environment. Everywhere around us fields arise from currents flowing through conductors, signals from radio stations, mobile phones, WiFi and other communication networks. Electromagnetic interference is not visible to us, it's just there. Each device using energy causes fluctuations on the network in the form of peaks or surges, or causes a variation in the electromagnetic fields in the air. The effects occur around the device itself and on its mains supply, but even far away from the device the fields are still measurable. This can only be measured with suitable equipment, not with our ears. Common thought is that shielded power cords protect the connected devices better against influences from outside, which is true. Much more important is that the field created by the fluctuating current inside the power cord itself does not reach interlinks and speaker cables. Interlinks transport small signals to audio devices with a high input resistance. This high input resistance makes equipment extremely sensitive to interferences. This unique feature is called a ground bridge . It offers you the option to connect to an external earth instead of the earth from the wall socket which is shared with all other devices in your house. In most cases this external earth is a special copper electrode placed deep into the ground, outside your house, preferably it is used for your audio only. With the Ground-Bridge placed between the black and the green connector the Mains Multiplier 8+ is connected to the wall socket earth. With the Ground-Bridge placed between both black connectors you can feed the external earth to the green connector on your Mains Multiplier 8+. Don't expect a miracle. There will be a difference, but we can not tell you how big the difference will be. It depends on the mains supply, power cords and audio equipment. The differences will be noticeable in spatial performance and details on a low sound level. A good solution stands or falls with good quality power cables and a good power strip. The Sound Saver is just a step in the right direction. Where to use? The Sound Saver should be used to measure the mains contacts used for your audio equipment. Measure every socket, also when more contacts are in the same power strip. We have seen strange situations, you can better be sure. Mark the phase with a dot or a sticker on each socket. Also mark the plug of the input power cable connected to your power strip, so you know how it was inserted in the mains (wall) socket during your measurements. Don't leave the Sound Saver in your (wall) socket all the time, it's a measurement tool which is not made to work continuously. Working principle For good audio performance it is very important that the equipment is connected to the mains supply the right way. But what is the right way? Manufacturers often indicate phase on their equipment or power plug, so the only thing to find out is where the phase on the mains wall socket is. It is also important for your audio equipment to have a good earth connection . Not having an earth connection is an unsafe condition. A bad earth condition or no earth at all can cause problems in sound reproduction. Hum is a very audible result, but sometimes we just realize what details we miss until we hear this piece of music somewhere else. In this case the difference between phase and neutral can not be determined, in fact the contacts are both phase. Click here for review What to expect? The Noise Eater removes disturbances and noise from the mains supply. Because the mains current "passes-by" the filter it will not produce noticeable heat. The sound character of your system will certainly not change, but the calmness in the sound and the stability of the image will be very noticeable, especially during working hours when there are more disturbance on the mains supply. The Noise Eater is a small investment with maximum performance . The difference is audible immediately! Where to use? Like the Pulse Protector , the Noise Eater also has to be placed close to the audio equipment, preferably in the same (double) wall socket feeding the power strip, else in the power strip itself feeding your audio equipment. The Noise Eater can be used for devices as CD-players, D/A-converters, tuners, phono stages, but also (integrated) amplifiers will benefit , even large ones! Several Noise Eaters in one (wall) socket is in most cases useless, multiple Noise Eaters throughout your house is a good idea, but feel free to do experiments… The Noise Eater is not critical to phase, you can just plug the Noise Eater in the wall socket or power strip. Also computers, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, switching power supplies, power drills and many other to the mains supply connected appliances can cause interferences. Low distortion on your mains supply is hard to detect, you need assistance of special measurement equipment. The effect of the distortion however is very audible. You need a special filter to clean your mains supply without slowing down currents . The Noise Eater is a parallel filter , this means that the mains supply current which feeds your audio equipment will not flow through the components of the filter. In fact the filter is only 'monitoring' the mains supply and then traps the distortion signals . Currents will not slow down and the distortion will be gone! The circuit has multiple filter stages that have been extensively tested , to ensure the sound character of the music remains intact . The Noise Eater also has an overvoltage protection between phase and neutral that converts each pulse above 250 Volt into thermal energy. The circuit itself has been poured into resin to prevent it from vibrating. Even the shell of the Noise Eater is a solid piece of POM-C material brought into shape by a CNC machine and lathe.
